2010 Bluewater U10
Boys
LKYSL
The Bluewater Lightning U-10 boys soccer team
participated in the Middlesex United Invitational Tournament on June
5-6 and brought home the gold medal winning all 4 games they would
play over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Lightning won their first game
against St. Thomas Bangu by a score of 7 – 0. Later Saturday afternoon,
Bluewater would face Middlesex United and were able to produce another
win, this time by a margin of 3 – 0. These 2 wins allowed Bluewater to
move directly to the semi final round on Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, the Lightning were able to continue their
strong play, coming up with a 7 – 0 win against Southend United to
advance to the final game which turned out to be a rematch against
Middlesex United. In the final, Bluewater had a strong first half in
which they were able to generate a 3 – 0 lead at the half. In the 2nd
half Middlesex would come on strong and score 2 goals, but the boys were
able to hang on and claim the championship. Final score Bluewater 3,
Middlesex United 2.
Throughout the weekend, the Lightning demonstrated
strong team play, with defenders Josh Vale, Joey Ferrera, Chris Harwood
and Lucas Ross rarely letting the opposition get near the net going 3 ½
games before a goal was scored. Matthew Torti provided a solid presence
in the goal. Midfielders Cameron Adam and Tristan Haagsma patrolled the
midfield, moving the ball effectively to the front lines while
supporting the defensive end of the field. Dante Fuoco, Mitchell Neal,
Levi Prinsen, Tanner Vanmeenen, Tracer Mackay and Dakota Moore worked
the offensive end of the field, moving the ball well between them and
providing heavy pressure to the offensive zone. Great job boys!
