Bluewater Lightning U-10 Boys Soccer
The Bluewater Lightning U-10 boys soccer
team picked up a couple of wins recently in LKYSL action against
Chatham 8 – 2 and Sarnia Fury Red 3 – 2.
In one of the teams strongest efforts of
the year on May 26 against Chatham, the Lightning started the first
half of the game applying pressure in the offensive zone and were
rewarded with a couple of early goals by Lucas Ross to take a 2 – 0
lead. Chatham was able to score a nice goal on a hard shot off the
post to cut the lead to 2 – 1, but shortly after Bluewater was
awarded a penalty kick which was converted by Tristan Haagsma to
give the Lightning a 3 – 1 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Lightning
continued to press the play coupled with strong defensive zone play
from Josh Vale, Tracer MacKay and Dante Fuoco who limited any
pressure to the Bluewater zone. The Lightning were able to strike
for 5 more goals in the 2nd half provided by Levi Prinsen,
Lucas Ross, Mitchell Neal, Dakota Moore and Dante Fuoco and finished
the game with an 8 – 2 win.
At Suncor Field on June 2nd, the Lightning were matched
up with Sarnia Fury Red. After a rather slow start to the game, the
Lightning started to pressure the Fury end of the field midway
through the 1st half and were rewarded with the games
first goal as Dante Fuoco kicked in a loose ball in front of the
Sarnia net. Bluewater continued to apply pressure, forcing the
Sarnia keeper to making numerous saves as well as hitting the
crossbar. The first half ended with the Lightning up 1 – 0.
In the 2nd half, Sarnia started to apply some pressure in
the Bluewater zone and were able to find the net to tie the game at
1. Bluewater responded by quickly moving the play back to the
Sarnia end and were able to connect as Dante Fuoco tapped home a
rebound off a hard shot. Shortly after, the Lightning were able to
gain an insurance goal as Tristan Haagsma took a corner kick which
Cameron Adam was able to tip in the far corner of the Fury goal.
This turned out to be an important goal as Sarnia was able to get a
late goal to cut the lead, but Bluewater was able to hang on for the
3 – 2 win in a very entertaining and hard fought match by both
teams.
