Sunday April 25th
Bluewater Thunder @ Middlesex United
– Exhibition Game
The Bluewater Thunder U11 boys soccer
team travelled to Strathroy to face the Middlesex United
in an exhibition game and came away on the wrong end of
a 2-1 score.
The first half was dominated by the
Middlesex team as they were playing their fourth
exhibition game and the Thunder their first. Middlesex
scored first on a shot from way out which just went over
the head of Stefan Mallozzi. Bluewater did not have
many chances in the first half and managed to keep the
score close. Middlesex was awarded a penalty shot late
in the first half and Mallozzi made an incredible save
to keep the score at 1-0. Middlesex started the 2nd
half the same way they finished the first half and kept
constant pressure on the Thunder until they were
rewarded with a second goal. Bluewater then picked up
the pace and started putting pressure on the Middlesex
team and were rewarded with a penalty shot late in the
2nd half. Chris Dedecker stepped up and buried the shot
for a 2-1 final score.
Sunday May 2nd
Bluewater Thunder @ Oakridge Fire
The Bluewater Thunder U11 boys soccer
team travelled to London to face the Oakridge Fire in an
exhibition game and came away with a 3-2 victory.
The Thunder started slow and half way
through the first half, gave up a goal to the Fire when
the defence let the Fire forwards through and the goal
was scored from outside the box on a hard high shot.
The Thunder then came alive and were rewarded when Chris
Dedecker scored off of a Matthew Paquette shot after
receiving a pass from Colin Yazdani. The defence
consisting of Marcus Cossa, Michael Petrucci, Bennett
Vani, Zachary Matias and Patrick Spenner played very
solid after giving up the goal. The half-time score was
1-1.
Oakridge came out fired up to start
the 2nd half and scored right off the
kick-off, catching the Bluewater team napping.
Bluewater then buckled down and played solid from then
on. Chris Dedecker scored his second of the game on
passes from Nicolas DiScanno and Diego DaSilva to tie
the game and then went ahead on a beautiful shot from
Nicholas Iacobelli after receiving passes from Dedecker
and Daniel Cservik. Bluewater then shut the door the
rest of the way and hung on for the victory. Goalkeeper
Stefan Mallozzi played an excellent game.
