Annual Earlybird
Tom Ogle Memorial Tournament
May 8 - 9, 2010
Bluewater Thunder U11's
faced off against the Chatham Attack in the first game
of the Bluewater tournament this past weekend and came
away with a convincing 4-0 win. Bluewaters Matt
Paquette scored early in the first half on a rebound off
of a Diego DaSilva shot. Nicholas Iacobelli then
increased the lead to 2-0 when he buried home a low shot
to the lower corner. Stefan Mallozzi was forced to make
a couple of good saves to keep the halftime score at
2-0. The second half started with a goal by Chris
Dedecker on a head ball to the middle of the net.
Iacobelli finished off the scoring when he took a pass
from Patrick Spenner and buried his second goal of the
game.
Bluewater then faced off
against the Oakridge Fire in the second game of the day
and came away with a 1-0 victory to go to 2 wins and 1
loss. Both teams had plenty of chances in the first
half with the Oakridge goalie making some spectacular
saves as did Bluewaters Stefan Mallozzi. Early in the
2nd half, Matthew Paquette scored a nice goal after some
nice passing from Daniel Cservik and Zachary Matias to
give Bluewater the lead. Bluewater then closed the door
on any Oakridge offence to preserve the victory.
Michael Petrucci, Bennett Vani and Burke Roszell played
a very solid defensive game.
Bluewater then faced off
against Middlesex United on Sunday morning and lost the
game 4-0. The loss combined with an Oakridge victory
over Chatham put Middlesex United and Oakridge in the
U11 finals later that day. The tiebreaker went
Oakridge's way by virtue of 1 goal. Tough way to lose
out, but overall a good opening tournament for the
Thunder. |
