Friday June 18th vs
Sarnia Fury
The Bluewater Thunder
faced off against their rivals the Sarnia Fury at SCITS
and came away on the losing end of a 4-1 game. The game
started well for the Thunder as Nicolas DiScanno found
the back of the net about 10 minutes into the game to
give the Thunder the lead. The Fury started to press
and were rewarded with a free kick just outside the box
and their striker converted the shot to tie the score.
The Fury went up 2-1 when a long ball caused some
confusion with the Bluewater sweeper and goal keeper and
Fury player knocked it into the open net. Late in the
first half, the Fury were awarded another free kick from
in close and made no mistake to take a commanding 3-1
lead into the half-time break. The Thunder started
strong in the second half but were unable to penetrate
the strong Fury defence and when they did, the Fury
keeper turned them aside. Late in the second half, the
Fury were awarded another free kick and again made no
mistake in burying the shot to walk away with a 4-1
victory.
Monday June 21st vs
Chatham Attack
The Bluewater Thunder
faced off against the Chatham Attack on a warm evening
at SCITS and came away with a disappointing 4-4 tie.
The Thunder started strong when Nicholas Iacobelli fired
a long shot over the keepers head after having received
a nice pass from Matthew Paquette. Chatham came right
back when they caught the Bluewater defence flat footed
and their winger fired home a long shot over the
outstretched hands of keeper Stefan Mallozzi. Paquette
scored to give Bluewater the lead again heading into the
half-time break. Chatham came out strong to start the
second half and were rewarded with the tying goal off
their striker. Again, the Thunder took the lead when
Colin Yazdani scored on a well placed head ball off a
cross from Paquette. Chatham then scored two quick ugly
goals to go up by a 4-3 score and had Bluewater on the
ropes until Chris Dedecker scored on a rocket of a shot
off a free kick to tie the score at 4-4. With only
minutes remaining, the Thunder were awarded a penalty
shot to potentially win the game, but the Bluewater
player shot it just over the bar and the game ended at
4-4.
Bluewater now heads to
