The Bluewater faced off
against the North London Gold in league play at SCITS
and came away with a tough 7-0 loss. The North London
team are a very skilled big team and unfortunately the
Thunder did not play the way they are capable of and it
showed on the scoresheet.
The first half was a great half for the Thunder as they
kept the strong North London forwards at bay and had
some chances of their own to take the lead. Just 3
minutes from the end of the first half, North Londons
striker took a long lobbing shot that went over the head
of Stefan Mallozzi and gave them a 1-0 lead at
half-time.
The second half was all North London as they scored 6
more times to dominate the game and come out with a 7-0
victory.
Bluewater vs London Athletic
Spartans
July 3, 2010
Saturday
July 3rd, the Bluewater Thunder U11 boys soccer team
travelled to London to face off against the London
Athletic Spartans and came away with a thrilling 3-2
victory. The Thunder had some early chances but did not
convert and it was London who scored first when their
center forward scored off of a cross to give them the
lead. Bluewater's Matthew Paquette tied the game when he
scored on a nice shot after having received a pass from
Chris Dedecker. Bluewater had called up three players
from the U10 team as players were on vacation and it
paid off as Lucas Ross scored after having recieved
passes from Paquette and Bennett Vani to give the
Thunder the 2-1 lead. The second half saw the Athletic
Spartans come out strong and were rewarded when they
tied the game off a long booming shot from the middle of
the field. Again, 10 year old Lucas Ross scored to give
the Thunder the lead. He received a pass from Nicolas
DiScanno and scored on a well placed shot. Bluewater
kept the pressure on the Spartans and appeared to have
taken the lead when Nicholas Iacobelli scored but the
referee never saw the ball cross the line and did not
count the goal. That seemed to give the Spartans life
and they started attacking looking for the tie and if
not for the strong defence of Michael Petrucci, Marcus
Cossa, Tristan Haagsma, Josh Vale, Zachary Matias and
Bennett Vani, they may have tied the game. |
