Sarnia Produce vs. Lanxess - Thursday August 5th.

The Azzurri returned to League action facing Lanxess on a beautiful Thursday night. In the 4th minute of play, Produce opened the scoring when midfielder Peter Nassiokas ripped a shot from the right side of the goal, which deflected into the corner of the net. Approximately  26 minutes later, on a corner kick by Peter Tavabis, the Azzurri scored their second of the night when stopper George Stoukas headed the ball into the upper left corner of the goal leaving no chance for Lanxess keeper Rich Prudhom.  At the end of the half Sarnia Produce almost made it 3 - 0 when they had a three man breakaway but were denied by the Lanxess goalie as striker Dino DeCarolis drove the ball on net. The half closed with Produce up 2 - 0.

In the second half, Lanxess came to life pressuring in the early minutes of play. Lanxess halfback Keith Henry made a beautiful run on the outside left of the goal forcing a corner kick. On the ensuing kick, Derek DiMuzzio sent the perfect through ball,  which forced a huge scramble on goal only to be denied by the perfect save by Produce keeper Olindo DeSena Jr..  The Azzurri picked up their third goal of the night on a swift run by midfielder Stephan Sirois, who made his way around the Lanxess defense and finished with the perfect low shot on goal.  Sarnia Produce closed out the scoring with Peter Nassiokas scoring his second of the night, on a blast from 35 yards out as he caught the Lanxess keeper out of his net.  Final Score: Sarnia Produce Azzurri 4 - Lanxess 0.
