Sarnia Produce Azzurri
Sarnia Men's Industrial Soccer League
Over 35

Tuesday Night - July 6/2010

In Subway Cup action, Sarnia Produce met Tomlinson Enterprises for their first game in qualifying play.  The first half was relatively quiet with not many scoring chances on both ends of the field. The best chance came in the later stages of the half when Produce keeper Olindo Desena Jr. challenged for a loose ball and was carded for contact in the penalty area. As he was directed to leave the field for his yellow, substitute goalie Lenny Decarolis stepped in.  In dramatic fashion Decarolis made a huge diving save to keep the game scoreless at the half.

The second half presented more offence as both squads seeked the opening goal. In the 60 minute of play, Azzurri midfielder Theo Tsaprailis opened the scoring on a hard low drive to the net. To close out the game Produce Striker Livio Dimurro finished the scoring on a beautiful goal to pace the Azzurri to their first win in 2010 Subway cup action. Olindo Desena Jr. posted the shut out for Produce. Final Score Sarnia Produce Azzurri 2 - Tomlinson Enterprises 0.

Thursday Night - July 8/ 2010

After one day of rest, Sarnia Produce returned to the pitch to face Lanxess in League play. On a warm night for soccer, the pace began somewhat slowly. The Azzurri forced most of the play with numerous scoring chances however Lanxess keeper Rich Prudhom kept the game scoreless.

Produce were finally rewarded in the second half with a nice give and go from George Stoukas to striker Livio Dimurro who finished with a perfectly placed shot in the right corner of the Lanxess goal. The game remained 1 -0 till the late stages, when veteran Lanxess forward Derek Dimuzzio sending the perfect back heel to a speeding outside halfback who evened the game with hard low shot that beat Produce substitute goalie Okan Zeytinoglu. The game ended in a draw. Final score: Sarnia Produce Azzurri 1 - Lanxess 1.
