Sarnia Produce Azzurri vs. Lanxess
Thursday May 27th

The Azzurri returned to the pitch as defending champions to open up the 2010 Industrial Soccer Season. On a beautiful night for soccer they faced a Lanxess team headed by Derek Di Muzzio.

The opening pace of the game was fast with many early scoring chances going to Lanxess. In the 20th min. however, midfielder Dean Troiani crossed the perfect ball into the box which found the foot of left halfback John Taraborrelli who placed  it quickly into the right top corner of the net.  Soon after, newly signed George Stoukas, quickly made it a two goal lead as he sent a thunderous shot into the lower corner of the goal. Produce kept the offensive attack and Stoukas got his second goal of the game with a perfect one-timer.  Lanxess capitalized on a defensive error to get a late goal in the dying minutes of the first half.  The score going into the half was 3 - 1 for the Azzurri.

The second half was much like the first as Lanxess came out strong. A long bench proved to be the difference as Produce began to attack. In the 58th min. , Dino Balatsoukas (a.k.a. El Toro) made a great defensive rush going end to end finishing with a perfect give and go from Lenny Decarolis to score his first career goal! Minutes later on a cross from Striker Dino Decarolis, the ball was headed into the net by midfielder Okan Zeyitonglu.  Continued pressure by the Azzurri resulted in another goal by George Stoukas who completed his hatrick.

Final score:  Sarnia Produce Azzurri 6 -  Lanxess 2.
