The Sarnia
Fury Girls U-12 continued their winning ways in
recent District Girls Soccer Action with a 3-1 victory
over the Chatham attack.
Alyx Wilcox led the way with two goals and Lauren Adam
chipped in with one, allowing the Fury to go to 6-0 on
the season.
The Sarnia Fury Girls then
took on the Wallaceburg Sting. The Fury controlled
the majority of the play but could not find the back of
the net early on. A strong passing sequence starting
from sweeper Aleah Boersma found Sam Eisenbraun wide.
The winger passed inside to Vanessa Wardell who sprung
Allee Riddoch with a through ball. A left footed volley
by Riddoch lifted the Fury to a 1-0 half time lead.
Wallaceburg tried to equalize in the second frame but
again Boersma was there to intercept and start the
counter attack. A pass wide to Kaela Goertz created
space for a quick inside pass to Wardell in the
mid-field. Cassandra Forte timed a run and Wardell fed
the ball through to the streaking striker. Forte made no
mistake with her strike and the Fury was victorious at
2-0.
Strong team defending assisted the two keepers, Nicole
Bus and Lauren Adam, in recording the shut-out.
The Fury now sits at 7-0 on the season. Their next game
is Monday July 19 in Oil City against Petrolia.
