Sarnia vs Oil City
July 19, 2010

Sarnia travelled to Oil City on July 19th to battle the Oil Barons on their home field.  Having continued to struggle to push each respective team out of first place, everyone knew it would be a tough battle, and one that perhaps would get rough.

Sarnia's defence were kept on their toes, constantly having to chase down the Petrolia forwards from getting too close to Andrew Spenner.  Andrew had a tough game to play, and he certainly dominated his turf.  In total he faced 20 shots on net, allowing only one each half.  Another excellent save ratio of 90% from the Sarnia keeper!!!

Petrolia scored first, with a beautiful shot that was quick and out of reach of Andrew.  The whistle blew at the half point with a score of 1 - 0 for the Oil Barons.  The Fury forwards picked up the pace after that, and they kept the Petrolia defence running back and forth trying to regain control of the game.  Sarnia refused to let their guard down, and tied the game at 1 - 1 when the Fury's fleet footed forward Trevor McEwan jumped into the air to head a ball past the Petrolia keeper.  Making the header possible was a beautiful pass sent in from Austin Long.  Sarnia then scored another goal when Jacob Pullen received a pass from Trevor McEwan in front of the net.  Trevor's pass to Jacob was from a cross sent by Riley Roberts.  Way to work together boys!  Kyle Mackin came close to scoring, Daniel Cicchelli played an amazing defensive game, and Christian McCormick showed us all again that he isn't afraid to use his head to get the job done!  Final score of the game was 2 - 2.  Currently, both Sarnia and Petrolia are tied for first place.
