Sarnia vs Bluewater Blaze

submitted photos
Sarnia
travelled to the other side of town on
July 27th and took to the pitch at SCITS
to take on the Bluewater Blaze. The
game was quick, the pace was fast, and
Sarnia worked hard to keep control of
the game. Spencer Gorman, Andrew
Spenner, and Daniel Cicchelli were all
hurt, leaving two spares. Kids were
tired, hot, and sweaty, but
determination won out. When the final
whistle blew the score was 5 - 1 for
Sarnia. Riley Roberts stopped 9 out of
10 shots on net, doing a great job as
keeper. The opponent's goal came in the
second half among much confusion in
front of the net.
The Fury's
first goal came from Spencer Charlton,
the second from Christian McCormick.
Trevor McEwan set Spencer up for the
third goal, and Spencer promptly scored
the fourth goal of the game (and his
third of the night) after taking the
ball from the half point all alone. The
fifth and final goal was fed by Tyler
Vynckier up to a waiting Kyle Mackin.
It was a great game, and each team kept
the spectators wondering what might
happen next.

Sarnia vs Wallaceburg

Sarnia
lost a disappointing game on this
night despite a great effort on the
part of the Fury players. The loss
pushed them out of first, and they
now will enter the semi-finals next
week against Wallaceburg.

Wallaceburg were short players, and
the team quickly showed Sarnia that
it wouldn't be enough to give Fury
an easy defeat. The Sting worked
harder and better against Sarnia in
this game than any other game in the
season. They quickly took control,
and maintained that effort until
well into the second half. At the
68 minute mark in the game, Sarnia
scored their lone goal of the
night. Spencer Charlton took a
corner kick and sent the ball high
and over to a waiting Trevor McEwan.
Trevor sent it past the Sting keeper
with a quick head butt that caught
the Wallaceburg player by surprise.
Wallaceburg managed to score once in
the first half, and three more times
in the second half, to end the game
at 4 - 1 for the Wallaceburg Sting.
Better luck next time Fury!!
