Spirit Lose and Tie to League Leaders North London
Game 1
Sarnia 0 - 2 North London
Sarnia Spirit recently played back to back games with
leaders North London.
Sarnia started bright with Mickayla Moses sending in some
dangerous crosses. First a free kick was challenged well by
Sarah McCormick who's was unlucky to convert the shot. Chloe
Kennedy also had a great chance breaking through the defence
but shooting wide. London started to settle and opened the
scoring with a run down the left wing and shooting low into
the net. London kept up the pressure and Morgan Wagg's in
Sarnia's net was called on to make a number of saves to keep
Sarnia in the game. Sarnia tried to get back into the game
and pressed the London defence with a number of corner just
before half but unable to score.
2nd half Sarnia started well, Mickayla again sending a great
corner in and London's goalie making a great save from Chloe
Kennedy's shot. London then sent a through ball to go clear
on net but were denied by a great stop by Daphine Hibma in
net who was injured on the play.Sarnia last chance came from
a great run from Skylr Melton
through the middle, she slipped a pass therough to Chloe who
tackled 50 - 50 with the goalie but was unable to score.
With not long to go London secured the points with a late
strike to win 2 - 0.
Game 2 Sarnia 1 - 1 North London
Sarnia Spirit turned up in confident mood hoping to take
something from the game against North London. For most of
the half London pressed and Sarnia were on the back foot.
Morgan Wagg's again was having a solid game in net with some
fine saves. Sarnia's defence of Alexa Eldridge, Madisyn
Mika, Abby Zalewski, Steph Maitland and Daphine Hibma were
kept busy and London found it hard to penatrate. London did
open the scoring just before half with a hard strike out
side the box. Sarnia managed to tie it up right on half when
Ashley Edgar was brough down on the edge of the box after a
fine run. Mickayla Moses made no mistake ahit a hard free
kick high into the net. 1 - 1 half.
2nd half, saw a battle in the midfield. Madisyn Mika and
Mickayla Moses and Sydney Caron did a great job man marking
and didn't let London settle. Alexa Eldridge, Sarnia's
sweeper, also did a great job clearing any danger through
the middle. Sarnia's best chance came when Skylr Melton and
Chloe Kennedy once again combined well with Skylr slipping
the ball to Chloe and the 50 -50 ball was challenged well by
the goalie. The last play of the game saw Mickayla Moses
split the London defence to put Chloe Kennedy one on one
with the London defender. A great effort with the shot but
again the London goalie denied Sarnia with a finger tip
save. Final 1 - 1 tie.
