The Sarnia Spirit U17 Team played
in the Tournament Round of Ontario Cup this past
weekend, which was hosted by the Sarnia Girls Soccer
Club. In the first game, the Spirit played the South
Region League leading Niagara Falls Team. Niagara
Falls went ahead 1-0 in this game and it took a
massive effort by the Spirit to score two goals in
the second half to win the game 2-1. Hannah Kennedy
and Marlowe Pecora were the goal scorers. In game
two, the Spirit played Richmond Hill, an OYSL Team,
which is ranked as one of the top teams in Ontario.
The Richmond Hill Team put on an offensive show and
won the game 6-1. Pecora scored the lone Spirit
goal. In game three played on the Sunday, the Spirit
rebounded with a 4-0 win over London Utd. Tori
Regan, Danielle Girrard, Chloe Cadieux, and Jenna
Prevost scored the goals with Karly Dobbin receiving
the shut out.
In league action, the Spirit lost
a close game to London Southwest 2-1. Hanna
Kennedy scored for the Spirit. The Spirit continue
league action this Wednesday, July 14th, at
Veteran's Field versus Waterloo with game time @
6.30 pm.
