The Sarnia Spirit U17 Team played
in Kalamazoo, Michigan this past weekend in a
College Showcase Tournament. It was a warm up for
the Ontario Cup which will be played in Sarnia at
Veteran's Fields on July 10th and 11th. The Spirit
played two age groups up by playing in the U19
group. In game one, the Spirit lost 3-0 to TKO from
West Michigan. It was the Spirit's best game as TKO
was one of the best team's in the tournament. The
game was closer than the score as the Spirit had
numerous chances to score but were off the mark in
their shooting. In game two, the Spirit lost 2-1 to
Milwaukee, Wisconsin as Marlowe Pecora scored the
Spirit goal. Game three watched the Spirit defeat
Springfield, Illinois 1-0 on a goal by Pecora. Karly
Dobbin registered the shut out.
In WOYSL L3 league action, the
Spirit won two leagues games against London
Southwest with scores of 3-1 and 5-0. In game one,
Marlowe Pecora, Hanna Kennedy and Sydney Mellon
scored the goals. In game two, Pecora scored two
goals, with Kennedy, Danielle Girrard, and Tori
Regan with singles. Karly Dobbin with the clean
sheet in game two.
The Spirit are now preparing for
Ontario Cup Action in two weeks as they face Niagara
Falls from the Southern Region, Richmond Hill from
the OYSL, and London Utd from the West Region in
Tournament Round play. Games are Saturday July 10th
@ 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm with a final game on Sunday
July 11th at 11.00 am.
