The U9 Black Fury were back
in action on Tuesday evening
vs. city rivals Bluewater
Boom. The teams had met in
two previous occasions with
the Fury gaining victories
in both matches. Fury Black
travelled to Suncor Park on
a hot, humid night for
soccer. The Fury came out
strong and scored early in
the match with striker Mateo
Troiani firing a shot into
the upper corner of the Boom
net. The Boom responded and
tied the game on an own goal
from a deflection, which
eluded keeper Andrew Harron.
Black Fury regained the
lead when mid-fielder
Dominic Krasinkiewicz found
a loose ball in the Boom
goal box and drove it home.
The Sarnia Fury would
increase their lead by two
goals when halfback Kyle
Flamminio fired a shot into
the left corner of the Boom
net. Shortly after, the
Boom were rewarded a penalty
kick on a defensive takedown
in the Fury box. Boom
striker Blake Wallace
stepped up to take the PK
and found the net just
inches from a diving Fury
keeper's hands. Carter
Barron closed out the
scoring in the first half on
a beautiful shot from the
left side of the Boom goal.
The second half began slow
and sluggish with both teams
trying to find momentum.
Most play was held in the
mid-field as both teams
could not establish worthy
scoring chances. The best
chance came when Fury
striker Ryan Janssens placed
a strong free kick inches
over the Boom crossbar from
about 25 yards out. Black
forward Carter Barron
also rang another off the
crossbar but with no luck on
converting the rebound.
Bluewater would add another
in the second half but
that's all that was allowed
with the fury defense
closing out the game strong.
Final Score: Sarnia Fury
Black 4 vs. Bluewater
Boom 3.
