SARNIA FURY BLACK WIN WATER'S EDGE CLASSIC

 

The Sarnia Fury Black participated in their second tournament of the season at a local event - "The Water's Edge Classic" .

 

They were very successful in their first tournament by advancing to the finals and this tourney had high expectations as well.

 

The team opened the tournament playing their first game at 8:00 a.m under beautiful blue skies at Bluewater Bridge Park.  The team faced the Bluewater Boom and won the match by a score of 3 - 0. Goal scorers for the Fury were Dominic Krasinkiewicz (2) and Tristen Konrad (1). Black Fury keeper Andrew Harron posted the shutout.

 

Their second game was scheduled for noon as the weather became quite hot and humid. They faced Club rivals Sarnia Fury U9 in what was a very close game. Both teams would battle hard with the Black Fury squeezing out the win by a margin of 2 - 0. Goal scorers for Black were : Nathan Hawkes(1) and Ryan Janssens (1). The two victories would advance the Black Fury automatically into the finals.

 

After an extensive layoff the Black Fury were ready for the Finals vs. the Bluewater Boom. The finals were exciting and lived up to expectation. Black Fury came out strong and struck early with mid-fielder James Brown connecting with a powerful strike from the right side. The one goal lead would carry into the half with both teams tired from the heat. The second half opened with a fast pace as the Boom seeked the equalizer. Fury forward Kyle Flamminio made it a two goal advantage as he drove in a rebound from a sprawling Bluewater keeper. Black Fury keeper Andrew Harron closed out the game enroute to his third consecutive shutout. Fury hung on to win the gold in their Club's inaugural tourney. U9 Finals: Sarnia Fury Black 2 vs. Bluewater Boom 0 .

 

Coaches and parents were extremely pleased with the effort of all the kids during the tournament.
