May 10th Ilderton 2 V Sarnia Spirit 1
Sarnia opened the season with newly promoted
Ilderton. They got off to an unlucky start when the
referee called a hand ball in the box and Ilderton
taking the lead in the first couple of minutes.
Sarnia settled
and controlled most of the play, Sarnia equalised
with a nice through ball by Daphine Hibma to send
Chloe
Kennedy through to score. Minutes later Sarnia
nearly took the lead when Chloe Kennedy's long range
shot crashed off the bar.
2nd half, Sarnia created alot off chances. Sydney
Caron and Julie Blanchette feeding some nice passes
from midfield.
Looked like matter of time for Sarnia to take the
lead when Ilderton broke through the defence and
scored against the
run of play. Fial score 2 - 1 Ilderton.
May 24th Sarnia Spirit 2 V North London 1
Sarnia picked up their 1st win in a hard fought game
against North London. Again Sarnia
gave away an early goal. London kept up the pressure
and Madisyn Mika had to make some
crucial saves to keep Sarnia in it.
2nd half, Sarnia came out strong and had some great
passing and movement. Noelle Allen played a nice
ball to Chloe Kennedy
who turned and put Syndey Caron through to equalise
with a solid low shot. The game looked to be headed
for a tie when
Robyn Blair found space and laid a perfect chip
through to Sydney Caron, with the last kick of the
game Sydney made
no mistake to score the winner. 2 - 1 Sarnia
May 31st Chatham 2 V Sarnia Spirit 1
Sarnia took on rivals Chatham and once again
unfortunately came away with a loss. Sarnia opened
the scoring in the 1st half with
a great 20 yeard lob from Daphine Himba. 2nd half,
Chatham pressed and equalised from a corner kick
that was tapped in at the near post.
With minutes remaining Chatham scored. 2 - 1 Chatham
June 7th Sarnia Spirit 3 V Oakridge 3
Sarnia hosted Oakridge in an enterain game. Oakridge
had the early pressure and opened the scoring.
Sarnia got back into
the game with Stephanie Maitland finding Robyn Blair
in the middle and scoring a wicked 20 yard shot to
equalise. Sarnia then
took the lead before half with Julie Blanchette
passing to Chloe Kennedy to shot high in the net.
Oakridge started determined and Madisyn Mika again
pulling some nice saves, but it was Sarnia
stretching their lead when
Chloe Kennedy put Ashley Edgar through to score.
Sarnia nearly scored again with Sydney Caron
rattling a shot off the post,
the ball broke in Oakridge's favour and they broke
quick to score on the play. With minutes remaining
Oakridge tied it up
for a 3 - 3 tie.
June 28th Sarnia Spirit 1 V NorWest 0
Sarnia now host NorWest, Ashley Edgar scored the
winner for Sarnia with Madisyn Mika collecting a
well
deserved shutout. 1 - 0 Sarnia.
July 5th Southend United 2 V Sarnia
Spirit 3
Sarnia travelled to take on league leaders Southend.
Sarnia got off to a great start with Sydney Caron
opening the scoring.
Alexa Eldridge make it 2 with a great free kick.
Southend fought back putting Sarnia under pressure
and equalised with 2 goals.
Ashley Edgar scored for Sarnia with the game winner
3 - 2 Sarnia.
