It was a dark and stormy night, but that didn’t stop the
Sarnia Ultimate League from some wet and wild game
action. The two remaining undefeated teams in the
league (including pre-season) clashed at Canatara
Thursday night. The Banana Hammocks took advantage of a
shorthanded Suspects team in the first half, quickly
running up an 8-1 lead. The Hammocks continued their
strong play in the second half utilizing their Split and
Peel offence. Kartar Kalsi strung together some strong
plays to help his team to the 15-5 win.
The
Megalomaniacs and the Bulldogs both debuted their new
team shirts just in time for a fast paced match. After
losing the first point mere seconds into the game, the
Megalos caught wind and sent the game to 8-2 half time
break. Brian “Charchy” Chartrand brought heart and
hussle to the Bulldog’s game, but they just couldn’t
overcome the defensive zone. Rebecca Fradette was the
receiver of the night for the Megalos as they marched to
a 15-5 victory.
Red Army
had no luck as they played a man down against the
Huckstables. They never gave up despite having no subs,
and scored 5 points in a 15-5 loss. Allason Stewart
stepped up her handling game for the Huckstables in the
win.
Hungate’s Mom and Delusions of Grandeur
played a back and forth first half having only one point
separating them. But a strong second half by Hungate's
Mom limited their opponents to only 2 further points.
Standout play by Lindsay Langstaff and Adam Wettges with
multiple diving catches gave Hungate’s Mom a 15-9
triumph.
