Sarnia Ultimate Frisbee League

Sarnia Ultimate Pre-Season Wrap-up

The wind was fierce but the rain held off for an incredible night of frisbee at Lansdowne park.  Two undefeated teams, the Megalomaniacs and the Suspects started their game tight playing to an early 3-3 deadlock.  It was then the Suspects decided to start “hammering” the opposition, “flicking” up five straight points to take it to half time.  The Megalos couldn’t recover despite many impressive defensive blocks from Melissa Gough.  The Suspects took the easy win 15-5.

The Bulldogs played an intense match against a team with an uninspired new name “Delusions of Grandeur”.  The game itself was chippy and got heated at times, as both teams did not want to lose.  The Bulldogs had the lead through half time but were unable to make the lead continue, losing 15-11.  Craig Bourque of the Bulldogs came up with a key interception that helped his team gain some momentum.  He had a stand out performance on defence all game long.

The Banana Hammocks finished their preseason undefeated as they beat the Huckstables 15-8.  The Huckstables continue to have some attendance issues playing with no subs this week.  Alternate captain Vanessa Gillis explained, “Morale was up, but attendance was down”.  The combination of Shawn and Stacy Houlihan were a stellar force for the Huckstables.  While on the winning side, rookie Mike Raiger stepped up his game into a handling role propelling his team to the victory.

At Canatara, Red Army lost their third straight to Hungate’s Mom.  At 12-3 in favour of Hungate’s Mom, Red Army did attempt to close the gap, but the game finished at 15-8.
