First up this week there was a
make-up game between the Suspects and Hungate’s
Mom. The Suspects found themselves down early with
a 3-0 deficit before finding their groove, and
scoring 8 unanswered points leading into halftime.
The game finished with the Suspects winning 15-6
with the females being a big reason for the turn
around. Stacey Jubenville had a break out game
scoring and passing for a couple of points.
Honourable mentions to the engaged couple, Erin
Miller and Eric Hawryluk, with congratulations on
their upcoming wedding.
Two days later at Lansdowne fields,
the Suspects were back in action against the Banana
Hammocks. The Suspects proved to be a little too
much for the Bananas, who were missing their top
handler Tyler Shaw. The Suspects were efficient on
offence, working their way to an 8-0 halftime score.
The Bananas put together a three point rally in the
second half, much in thanks to Candice de Bock’s
diving efforts. In the end, the Suspects did
prevail with an easy 15-4 win. Shawn Stevenson and
Brandon Owen both had good games for the Suspects.
The Huckstables utilized their
patented patient offence against the Red Army zone
this week. Todd Kerrigan had a great lay-out catch
for the Huckstables. Red Army had too many costly
turnovers, and never got it together in the 15-8
Huckstable win.
The Bulldogs were riding a five game
losing streak going into their match with Hungate’s
Mom. The Bulldogs came out strong in the first half
scoring 5 quick points, Chrissy McNamara catching
two of them. The Bulldogs used their team speed
against an increasingly tired Hungate’s team, all
the way to a 14-5 lead. With their backs against
the wall, Hungate’s were then able to score three
consecutive times on bad turnovers by the Bulldogs.
Craig Bourque kept a cool head under pressure and
had some stellar defence to close out the match.
Chrissy McNamara finished off the hat trick and the
game with an outstanding catch. The Bulldogs
breathe a huge sigh of relief getting their first
win in 6 tries, 15-8 final.
There was no pants party in Canatara
this week, as the increasingly stealthy
Megalomaniacs kept the second place Pants Party team
to single digits. The Megalo’s sophomore Steph
Meacham had a breakout performance single handily
scoring 5 points and getting 2 big D-blocks. The
result was never in question as the Megalos moved
into 3rd with their 15-6 win.
