16U Girls McGregor Cup Zone A
 

On Saturday, December 15, the Twin Bridges Thunder 16U girls hosted Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) Zone A 16U McGregor Cup tournament at St. Christopher High School in Sarnia, Ontario.

 The Twin Bridges Thunder started their round robin games by playing and beating the competitive Chatham Ballhawks in the third set. The 16U Thunder continued their winning streak by beating the West Elgin Warriors in two sets. The Thunders were able serve, passed and played great defense during this winning streak. However, the 16U Thunder finished their round robin record with two wins and 1 loss after losing their final match to the Forest City Blue 16U team.

The 16U Thunder started the playoff round by beating the Woodstock Warriors in two sets. Again, great team serving, defense and spreading the ball offensively led to this team victory. The Thunder next played the Chatham Ballhawks again, but this time the Ballhawks won in two sets 25-22 and 25-22. The Ballhawks were able to get off to quick starts in both sets, which led to their win. Chatham Ballhawks eventually won the tournament and the Gold metal when they next played and defeated the Brant Tornadoes 25-22 and 25-14. The Thunder then played in the Bronze metal game against the Forest City Blue 16U and lost in the third set 15-7. The Thunder finished fourth in the tournament.

Twin Bridges Thunder would like to thank St. Christopher High School for their use of the gym. The Twin Bridges Thunder Volleyball Club also would like to thank all the parents and volunteers (concession helpers and scorekeepers) who helped to make this a very successful event for all.
