The Twin
Bridges Thunder U13 team finished 4th in the
recent Challenge Cup hosted by Twin Bridges Volleyball
Club.
The U13
team were victorious in their first match beating KW
Predators 25-18, 25-11 and 25-18. The second match in
the round robin proved to be the toughest playing
against one of Ontario’s perennial powerhouses,
Stratford Stingers. The Stingers took the first set
25-18. Twin Bridges came back to take the second set
25-21 and took the third set 25-23 coming back from a
23-19 deficit. That win gave Twin Bridges 1st
place in pool play and a bye to the quarter finals.
The
Quarter finals featured Waterloo Red playing Waterloo
Black, Twin Bridges playing KW U12 Predators, Woodstock
Warriors playing Stratford Stingers Black and FC Blue
(London) playing Stratford Stingers Gold.
In the
Quarter Final between Twin Bridges and a surprising U12
KW Predators Spikes program that upset the U13 KW
Predators27-25, 26-28, 15-12. The KW team left
everything they had on the court in the previous match
and proved to be easily defeated by the host U13 team
25-7, 25-16.
The Semi
Finals featured T.B Thunder vs Waterloo Black, Forest
City Blue vs. Stratford Stingers Black.
The Gold
medal game was easily handled by Forest City Green in 2
straight 25-23 and 25-10.
Forest
City Green now moves on to Tier one play.
The
U13’s had a great tournament and never once gave up. It
was very nice to see the caliber of the teams that were
present.
The
girls will next be in action on February 23 in the
Bugarski Cup and the March 29th for the
Ontario Championships. (Locations of tournaments
TBA)
