On a snowy Saturday February
9th, the Twin Bridges Thunder 16U girls traveled to
Forest Heights High School in Kitchener, Ontario. The
Thunder was one of 12 teams participating in the
Bugarski Cup.
The Twin Bridges Thunder
started their round robin games playing the number one
rank team in the tournament, Waterloo Tigers. The 16U
Thunder started off slow and eventually losing the third
set 16-14. Twin Bridges next played the K-W Predators
and lost in two sets by a score of 25-23 and 25-20.
Despite the two tough losses, Twin Bridges Thunder was
able to pick up their play as the round robin
progressed.
The 16U Thunder started the
playoff round by beating the Forest City Blue 15U team
in two sets (28-26 and 25-22). Great team serving,
defense and spreading the ball offensively led to this
team victory. The Thunder next played the Forest City
Blue 16U team, but 16U Thunder lost in the third set.
The Thunder won the first set, but the 16U Blue from
London took the next two sets in a very exciting and
intense match. Twin Bridges next played the same
Predators from the morning session, but this time the
Thunder reversed the result and beat the K-W team in two
sets. The Twin Bridges Thunder ended their day finishing
fifth.
Twin Bridges Thunder 16U
girls will next play in the Ontario Championship on the
weekend of April 12 and 13. Location for this final
event of the volleyball season will be announced shortly
by the Ontario Volleyball Association. sponsored by: |
