Sarnia Blast
goaltender John Falkner has accepted a
scholarship with the
University of Nebraska at Omaha and will
attend University stating in August 2008.
The
Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks is a
Division 1 school and play in the
CCHA Conference. At this time John
is undecided as to what area of study he
will be applying to.
John started his hockey career in the Sarnia
Hockey house league program and moved on
through Lambton AAA Hockey Association. John
started with Sarnia Blast in the 2003 - 2004
season. He was drafted in the OHL 6th
round by Windsor then traded to Erie in
2007. John decided to go the
University instead of playing pursuing a
career in the OHL. |
John has won numerous
awards throughout his career and hold several records
with the Blast Organization including:
Most Game Played (Career) 105 (2003 - 2004, 2006 - 07)
Most Minutes Played (Career) 5868 (2003 - 2004, 2006 -
07)
Most Wins (Career) 55 (2003 - 2004, 2006 - 07)
Most Shutouts (Career) (tied with Steve Bryce) 5 (2003 -
2004, 2006 - 07)
Most Games Played (Season) 42 (2003 - 2004, 2006 - 07)
In 2007-08 he was selected WOHL First Team All-Star.

John is
the son of Bonnie and step father Jim and has a
brother Adam and sister Ashley. John attended
St. Clair Secondary School and presently is working
at Micor Sports.
John is excited to move on to the next level in his
hockey career and is very happy to be able to
continue his education and play hockey at the same
time. "I have so many people to thank for
helping me get to this point in my life - too many
to mention in case I miss someone. I am so
appreciative of what everyone has done for me."
