Sarnia native Devon Beach a member of the Provinical U16
squad hosted the first game against the Everton F.C.
Ladies from England who are in Canada on a 4 game tour.

Before the
game the two teams were marched out in
ceremonial fashion and introductions were
made followed by both teams national
anthems. After the game Devon said "We
were all a little nervous before the game
with all the ceremony activities, but as
soon as the whistle blew you didn't think
about it anymore and just played soccer".

Both teams
were equal in the first half as the play
went end to end. The U16 girls were
first to score to take the 1 - 0 lead 19
minutes into the game. Midway the
Everton Ladies tied things up. Action
continued as the first half was coming to a
closed U16 Ontario scored their second goal
to take the lead by a score of 2 - 1 at the
half. |

Everton
scored the equalizer in the second half and
took the lead for the first time.
With the clock winding down the U16's tied things up on a ball that was
kicked and deflected off an Everton player
giving their goalie no chance of recovery.
The game ended with both teams tied with a
score of 3 - 3. |
The second
match of the four-game series will see Everton play the
Oakville Storm on
Friday June 30 before playing Woodbridge Azzurri on July
2.
The final game of the series sees Everton
travel to the nation’s capital to play the
Ottawa Fury on July 4.

Devon is the daughter of Susan and Nigel Beach and
sister of Corbin Beach of Sarnia.
Devon is a graduate of
Errol Road Elementary School and will be entering
grade 11 at Northern
Collegiate in the Fall of 2006.
Devon's soccer career started in the Sarnia
Girls Soccer Club.
Devon joined the London City Club
(formally known as North London) at U12. Currently she is
playing for the London City U16 Supernova. This team plays in
the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL) U16 girls’
division.
The OYSL is at the highest-level youth
competitive league in the
Province of Ontario.
