After 23 years, Sarnia's
Emilio Rocca’s OCAA basketball all-time
scoring record was finally broken by
Durham’s
Anthony Batchelor. On Sunday, the Falcons honoured Rocca
once again before Fanshawe’s playoff game
against the Durham Lords.
Rocca's is a member of the Sarnia-Lambton
Sports Hall of Fame (2000), OCAA Hall
of Fame (inducted in 2005)
and his #32 has been retired
by the Falcons. “It’s been quite an honour
to hold the record for the past 23 years and
it will certainly be something to look back”
said Rocca “The record almost means more to
my kids then anything else.”. |
Rocca’s family also has deep Fanshawe roots as his wife
Maria, was also a star basketball player for the
Falcons. They have 3 sons, all who are multiple sport
athletes from golf, hockey and basketball.
Rocca continues to be involved in the sport as coach
with the Sarnia Shamrock Major
Bantam Boys team. Rocca is the owner of
Rocks Custom Embroidery & Apparel located in Sarnia.
