Fanshawe Falcons at Lambton Lions

The Falcons travelled to Sarnia
to take on the Lambton Lions. Three of the four Sarnia
Girls
on the team were looking forward to this game as they were
playing against their former
club coach - Kevin Simmonds who also coaches the Lambton
team.

Emily Costello who just
returned from the Women's National Club
Championships held in Halifax scored a quick goal at
the start of the game to take the early lead.
Lambton answered back on a perfectly placed free
kick that caught the top just under the cross bar
into the net giving Lambton their first goal of the
season. Minutes later Costello scored her
second goal to regain the lead once again.
The half ended with the Fanshawe leading 2 - 1.

Fanshawe dominated in the second
half with the play deep in the Lions den. After many
chances Kristina Melhuish scored midway into the half to
take the 3 - 1 lead. Play continue and time ran out
giving Fanshawe their 4th win of the season. April
Brethauer was in net for the win.

The
Falcons are now 4 - 1 - 1 with 9 GF and 2 GA and are
in 2nd place with a total of 13 points in the
standings race. Mohawk College is closing in sitting
in 3rd place with 9 points and 2 games back.
Fanshawe has 1 game remaining in the regular league
play when they travel to Kitchener
on Wednesday Oct 17 to take on the Conestoga
Condors. |
