Fanshawe Falcons at Sheridan Bruins
October 3, 2007
The Falcons were on the road for a mid
week game against the Sheridan Bruins
in Mississauga. It was a battle of the goalies as both
ends made many saves to
keep the game at a scoreless tie.
 |
Fanshawe starting
keeper Sara King made several key saves before she
was replace by April Brethauer after she was injured
15 minutes into the game. Brethauer had to
redeem herself during the game after she was given a
yellow card after she unintentionally hit a player
in the box. "I was going towards the player
who had the ball with my arms outstretched and my
momentum continued after she chipped it over my head
and I caught her with my arm" is the explanation
Brethauer gave after the game. The referee awarded
the Bruins a penalty kick which Brethauer stopped to
save the goal from going in. |
At the other end of the field the Sheridan goalie made several
saves to hold off
the Falcon attack and after an intensive final 5 minutes the
game ended with neither
side hitting the mark. The Falcons are now 3 - 1 - 1 for the
season and are in second place
in the standings with 10 points, closely follow by Mohawk who
have 9 points with 1 game back.
Up next for the Falcons is a road trip to Sarnia on Tues Oct 9th
to go up against
the Lambton Lions. Kick off is at 4:30.

and Team Ontario (ranked 8th)
