Basketball – Gryphons Cruise to 75-51 Victory over Ryerson
Guelph, Ont - The Guelph Gryphon women’s basketball (3-5)
team cruised to a 75-51 win over the Ryerson Rams (0-8) at
home on Saturday night at the W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre.
Guelph led from start to finish in the contest and shot 47%
(27-for-57) from the field while the Rams struggled shooting
just 28% (16-for-56).
The Gryphons got out to an early five point lead after the
first quarter and extended their lead at the half, as they
outscored Ryerson 16-11 in the second quarter. Guelph
dominated the third quarter, with six players getting points
as the Gryphons outscored Ryerson 28-15 to end the third
quarter 61-38. The Gryphons spread the scoring around the
floor, with nine players registering points, cruising to the
75-51 victory.
Kris Yallin paced the Gryphons with a game-high 24 points,
while Heather Angus added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Caitlin Marshall finished with 11-point and nine rebounds.
Ryerson was led by Kaitlin Taylor’s and Rebecca Cox scoring
12 and 11 points respectively.
Guelph will be back in action next weekend at home as they
host Ottawa and Carleton visiting from the capital city.
Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m. in both contest.
