Ferguson Named SEC Player of the Week!
By Timothy R. Andrzejewski
of Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, MISS. - Mississippi State junior forward Treena Ferguson was name SEC Player of the Week this afternoon, as announced by the league office.

Ferguson helped lead the Bulldogs (2-7-0, 1-1-0) to a 1-1 record on the weekend, scoring six points on three goals. Friday night in MSU’s 3-2 loss to Georgia, she scored the goal that put MSU up 2-1. On Sunday, the Sarnia, Ontario, Canada native

scored twice, including the match-winning goal, as State upset No. 8 Tennessee, 3-2.

“(Treena) has had a great year so far,” said MSU head coach Neil Macdonald. “She’s been playing very consistently. Since she came to Mississippi State she’s been developing; getting stronger and better all the time. This is a great honor for her and the team.”

Ferguson is the first Bulldog player to receive the honor this year, and just the seventh player all-time. Emily Meyers was the last to win the award, August 28th, 2005.

The Bulldogs close out the homestand this weekend, beginning with a Friday night match versus LSU at 7:00 p.m. at the MSU Soccer Field. You can follow all the action live at www.mstateathletics.com.
