STARKVILLE, MISS. - Mississippi
State junior forward Treena Ferguson was named to Soccer
Buzz Magazine’s Elite Team of the Week as well as to the
Soccer Times Honor Roll, announced Wednesday. These are the
first such honors of Ferguson’s career, and she the first
Bulldog to receive the honors this year.
Ferguson helped lead the Bulldogs (2-7-0, 1-1-0) to a 1-1
record on the weekend, scoring six points on three goals.
Friday night in MSU’s 3-2 loss to Georgia, she scored the
goal that put MSU up 2-1. On Sunday, the Sarnia, Ontario,
Canada native scored twice, including the match-winning
goal, as State upset No. 8 Tennessee, 3-2. The junior has
set a new MSU record, scoring in four consecutive games.
Ferguson has six goals over that span.
Ferguson has started eight of State’s nine games, and is
second in the conference with seven goals. She is also tied
for second with 14 points.
The Sarnia, Ontario, Canada native is the first Bulldog to
be named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week since
Luisa Marzotto, November 6, 2003. She is also the first
player in MSU history to earn Soccer Times Honor Roll
status.
The Bulldogs close out the homestand this weekend, beginning
with a Friday night match versus LSU at 7:00 p.m. at the MSU
