Doug Zonneville
Born: Sarnia,
Ontario
Doug Zonneville played several
sports that included SMAA baseball, Lacrosse and hockey
throughout his youth and adult career. In 1972 Doug was a
member of the All Ontario Juvenile Championship Lacrosse
team. Later in life Doug became both a coach and referee in
the sport. In 1978 he was the Assistant Coach with the Pt.
Edward Pacers Junior B lacrosse team who captured the
Founders Cup. In the winter months Doug played hockey and
in 1971/72 he played on the Bolger Lodge Juvenile hockey
team that won the All Ontario AAA Juvenile Championships.
Doug was a member of the Petrolia Squires Intermediate C
hockey team that won 2 All Ontario Championships. In Senior
A hockey, Doug was a member of the 1979 & 1981 Allan Cup
Championship team. Doug continued to play Old Timers hockey
for local teams and the Electrical Union. Doug won MVP at
the annual IBEW Provincial Tournament in 1987 and Top Scorer
in 1996 and 1998. Doug then switched to coaching and as a
coach led his team to two Championships in 2004 & 2005. In
2005 Doug was named Coach of the Tournament.
Doug also
played fastball in the Town and Country league and later
turned to SloPitch where in 1987 was a member of the
Provincial Slo Pitch Championship team. He currently
remains active in a weekly two pitch league and in the
winter he continues to Referee minor hockey. Doug is
married to Wendy and together they have 3 children
Stephanie, Jacqueline, and Chris.
