Lambton Huron Bees win Sharks Major Midget Tournament

The Lake Huron
Bees were very successful this
past weekend as they went
undefeated in 6 games to win the
Bluewater Sharks Major Midget
Spring Tournament.
The Bees started the weekend
facing the Port Huron Flags on
Friday morning. The Bees won
this game 4-0 with goals scored
by Ryan Rosborough with 2
Deshon Payne, and Joel Pavey,
assists went to Joey Ferrera
with 2 Max Griffioen and Duncan
Core. Goalie Bailey Reinders
played a strong game in net and
earn the shutout.
The Bees then went on to face
the Sarnia Lumberjacks, this
game was fast paced, and went
back and forth, but the Bees
proved to be the best winning
this game 3-2. Goal scorers
were Cameron Rombouts, Ethan
Albany and Duncan Core.
Goaltender Josh Diamond was
strong in net making many saves
and getting the win.
As the tournament
went into day 2 the Bees would
face the E.C. Monsters. This was
a very well- played game with
the Monsters getting on the
scoreboard first, with the only
goal scored in the first
period. The Bees came back in
the second period scoring 2
goals one from
Max Griffioen with assist
from Joel Pavey, and one from
Paul Lee with Jack Robbins. As
the third period started the
monsters would tie the game, but
the Bees answered with 2, one
from Nick Burgess assisted by
Joel Pavey and Max Griffioen.
The last goal would come from
Garrett Wojcicki assisted by
Cameron Rombouts. Bailey
Reinders was again very strong
in net and earned his second
win.
The last game of the day would
be with the Minnesota Stars. It
seemed from the start of the
game that the Bees were
determined to win. They
dominated the play and had goals
by Garrett Wojcicki and 2 from
Max Griffioen. Assists would go
to Aiden Burns, Duncan Core,
Ryan Rosborough and Nick
Burgess. With another strong
game in net by Josh Diamond, a
shutout for him, the Bees won
the game 3-0 and headed to the
Semi Finals.
The Semi Final
game saw the Bees facing the
B.C. Monsters once again. The
Bees came out wanting this win
to head to the finals. They
played very strong as a team
scoring 7 goals and holding the
Monsters to just 2. Goals for
the Bees were scored by Joey
Ferrera with 2, Max Griffioen
with a Hat trick and one each
by Garrett Wojcicki, and Nick
Burgess. Several Bees earned
assists in this game. The Bees
once again had very strong
goaltending with Bailey Reinders
holding the Monsters to only the
2 goals. With 5 wins the Bees
were ready to go to the finals
and face the Sarnia
Lumberjacks.
The Bees would go on the
scoreboard first scoring the
only goal in the first period on
a goal from Max Griffioen. The
second period would see the Bees
scoring 3 more goals from Paul
Lee with 2 and Joey Ferrera with
one. Heading into the 3rd
period and the Bees ahead 4 to
0, the Lumberjacks would get
their only goal at 11:18 and the
Bees would win the game 4-1.
Another great game for goalie
Josh Diamond, earning him the
MVP of the Tournament.
