World Junior Figure Skating Championships
March 8 - 14th
 

After earning a gold medal at Skate Canada's National Junior Pairs competition held in London, Ontario the couple has been chosen to represent Canada at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

The World Junior Championships will be held in The Hague, Netherlands from March 8 to the 14th.

 Eighteen year old Marinaro and 15 year old Purdy will be one of Canada's 3 pair teams to compete. In addition to Marinaro and Purdy, their teammates from the Competitive Skating Centre of Strathroy, Adam Johnson, 21, and Kaleigh Hole, 16, and Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club's Kurtis Gaskell,19, and Brittany Jones, 14, will be competing for Canada.

 

Michael is a member of the Point Edward skating club is the son of Beverley and Albert Marinaro of Sarnia and the brother of Rob and Joe.  Margaret's home club is Watford and she is the daughter of Lyn and Brad Purdy of Strathroy, Ontario and the sister of Cameron.  Throughout the year the pair trains at the Competitive Skating Centre of Strathroy and have been working very hard with coaches Scott Rachuk and Alison Purkiss. Ms Purkiss will be traveling and coaching the pair while in the Netherlands.
