William (Bill) Abbott Jr.

Sailing

Bill Abbott competed in his first Olympic trials in 1972 and was a member of Canada’s Olympic Sailing Team three times, including the boycotted 1980 Moscow games, the 1996 Atlanta games and 2000 Sydney games.  His Soling team also won silver medals in the 1983 Venezuelan Pan American summer games.

Abbott has won multiple North American Championships, Canadian and World Championships.  Locally in the Great Lakes Region Bill and his team won 1st in class four times in the Port Huron – Mackinaw Race in 1982, 1986 and 1992.
