The Sarnia Lady
Sting Midget AA team could only come up with
one point in their final league game of the
season. They played at home on Sunday facing
the Chatham Outlaws.
Sarnia would
open the scoring on a beautiful rush by the
always strong defenseman Danielle Girard.
Melissa Kelly and Kelsey Dobbin both picked
up the assists.
Soon after
Chatham would get one of their own to tie
the game up. Chatham outplayed Sarnia for
most of the second period and eventually
went up 2-1. But into the third the Sting
seemed to get a second wind and really
pressured the Outlaws goaltender. This
eventually led to the equalizing goal due to
the persistence of Marlowe Pecora who found
a lose puck in front of the net and tucked
it away. Jillian Rops and Danielle Girard
assisted.
Sarnia now moves
on to the playoffs facing a very tough team
from Saugeen Mailtand. Game times are to be
announced.
The Sting also
will be playing in the Sarnia Silver Stick
this coming weekend. Game one is 12:30
Friday at the RBC center against Waterloo,
and an 8:00 evening game to follow at
Clearwater arena against Hamilton.
Sarnia drew a
tough third game against the undefeated
Toronto Aeros Saturday afternoon at 12:30,
again at Clearwater.
