18th Annual Forest City Hockey Tournament

The Sarnia Sting Atom MD's competed in the 18th Annual Forest City Hockey Tournament on the weekend and finished with a disappointing 0 - 2 - 1 record, despite playing some pretty good hockey. Scoring, or lack of it was the demise for the Sarnia boys.

The Sting opened the tourney against Erindale and came up on the wrong end of a 1 - 0 game. Erindale scored their only goal on a powerplay in the 2nd period. Sarnia pressured the Toronto team until the end but couldn't find the equalizer. Hunter Taylor played well in the Sting net.

Next up for Sarnia was Port Credit Friday afternoon. Port Credit jumped out to a 1 - 0 lead just 10 seconds into the game. They made it 2 - 0 on a powerplay in the 2nd period, while the Sting hit 2 goalposts ( unfortunately they don't count ). Port Credit made it 3 - 0 early in the 3rd period before Dustin Dennett scored on a pass from Dylan Schroeter to bring the score to 3 - 1 - where it stayed. Sarnia had some bad bounces in this game, and at times controlled the play, but just couldn't find the back of the net with the many chances they had.

Saturday morning, still with a chance to advance with a big win, the Sting faced Stoney Creek. The 1st period was scoreless, and Sarnia took it to Stoney Creek controlling the 2nd period, and not even allowing a shot on net, but it ended scoreless as well. The Sting finally jumped on the scoreboard early in the 3rd period when Brennan Healy fired a shot home on a pass from Julian D'Agostini. The lead was short lived as Stoney Creek scored on a powerplay shortly after. Sarnia applied pressure late , but couldn't score, and the game ended 1 -1.

Next action for Sarnia is Thursday against West London  at Germain Arena.
