Two former
Sarnia
Legionnaires
are off to
good starts
in the
Greater
Ontario
Junior
Hockey
League this
fall.
Scott
Stafford,
the
one-handed
winger who
helped the
Legionnaires
win the Weir
Cup in 2009,
has two
goals and an
assist to
his credit
in just two
contests
with the
Thorold
Blackhawks.
And Derek
Nap had a
goal and two
helpers
Saturday
night as the
Strathroy
Rockets
whipped the
St. Thomas
Stars 5-0.
The goal was
the 20th
of
Stafford's
junior
career. The
ace penalty
killer also
has five
playoff
markers to
his credit.
Eleven of
his regular
season goals
and two of
his post
season
scores came
during his
days in
Sarnia.
In all,
Stafford has
89 career
points to
his name,
including 73
in the
regular
season and
16 during
playoff
action.
Fully 64 of
those have
been
assists.
Stafford
left Sarnia
last season
to attend
Brock
University
in St.
Catharine's.
While there,
he suited up
with the
Blackhawks.
Later, he
was traded
to the
Stars, whom
he help
reached the
Weir Cup
final. But
this season
he's back in
Thorold.
Nap began
his career
in Sarnia
and scored
two goals
for the
Legionnaires
before being
traded to
the Rockets.
