The Sarnia Jr. B Pacers celebrated their first win of the season before the home crowd with a 12 - 8 win over the Hamilton Bengals.
 


 

Scoring started early as Hamilton took the lead a minute and two seconds into the opening period.  Jimmy Purves came back at 2:30 and scored Sarnia's first goal assisted by Aaron Schieman and Terry Millar.  Aaron Schieman went on and scored Sarnia second goal at 12:09 assisted by Tyler Glebe.  Hamilton answered back seconds later to tie.  Late in the period Sarnia regained the lead on a goal by Riley Thompson assisted by TJ Mara.  First period ended with Sarnia leading 3 - 2.
 

 

It was an action packed second period as a total of nine goals were scored, the first :25 seconds into the second period by Sarnia's Terry Millar assisted by TJ Mara.  Sarnia added four more goals in the period, one powerplay and two shorthanded.

Other goal scorers in the second were Shayne Cox from Brandon Burr and Riley Thompson, Dan Chartlton (shorthanded) from Jimmy Purves.  Purves scored the powerplay goal assisted by Riley Thompson and Purves finished the period scoring his third goal of the game shorthanded and unassisted.   Hamilton scored a total of 4 goals in the second.  After two periods of play Sarnia led 8 - 6.
 

In the third period it was a repeat with Sarnia scoring early at :28 seconds into the period.  Unassisted, Riley Thompson scored the first third period goal on a powerplay.  Both sides struggled with powerplays as Hamilton went on and scored one powerplay goal before Sarnia added three more goals, the first was on the powerplay by Jimmy Purves (his fourth goal of the night) assisted by Aaron Schieman and Riley Thompson.  Thompson added an unassisted goal and Conner Smith scored the final goal for Sarnia shorthanded from Lance Ross and Tyler Glebe.  The final goal of the night was scored by Hamilton at 14:55 on the powerplay.  Sarnia would hold on to take the first win of the season.
 

 

Tyler Glebe earned the win in net for Sarnia making a total of 32 saves.  Jayson Gibson took the loss with 29 saves.

Hamilton took a total of 23 minutes on 10 infractoins in penalties, Sarnia total was 25 minutes on 11 infractions.

Sarnia went 3 for 10 on powerplays, Hamilton went 3 for 11.

 

Sarnia is now is 1 - 4 for the season.

 

The Pacers are back in action on Sunday May 2 as they travel to London for a 7:00 pm game start.
