Two of the local Mixed Martial Arts clubs will be participating in the Battle at the Border 6 (U.S.A. Vs CANADA) Xtreme Cagefighting Championships at the McMorran Arena in Port Huron on October 24th.

On the card will be five fighters from the Supreme M.M.A. club representing Sarnia while Watford’s Pure-Bred fight club will have two of their fighters on the bill. From the Supreme club: Woodrow James (180lbs) supporting an undefeated record of 3-0 will do battle against Brad Laney who has an impressive record of 20-5. Marcello Solinas (185lbs) with 5 victories and only one loss will square off against Brian Wendel who has an identical record. The winner of this bout will be the number one contender for the Middleweight belt and will fight for the title in their next fight. Chris Logan (155lbs) at 2-2 will face Rob Ross who is 6-7 while both Jeremy Lambert (135lbs) and Dean Parsons (170lbs) will be making their MMA debut that night.

Seeing action from the Watford club will be Forrest Cable (145lbs) who remains undefeated with an impressive 5-0 record. Cable will fight Brandon Sturgis who is 8-3 for the Featherweight title. Also from Watford is Bobbi Jo Dalziel (145lbs) at 3-1 she will see action against Erika Bobier who has a 2-1 record. This bout is for the Women’s title.

Supreme M.M.A. instructor Woodrow James said, “at the Battle of the Border I am 2-0. In my first fight it went all three rounds and I won a unanimous decision, but it was real close. In my second appearance I won by knock-out in the second round.”

James opponent Laney has a record of 20-5 so it will be a huge step up in competition for him. “I’ll soon find out if I’m ready,” laughs James. “Laney is a Port Huron guy fighting out of the Gracy Jujitsu school and I’m assuming he will be a wrestler / grappler and want to take it to the ground. I’m a kick boxer so I hope to keep it on our feet. The crowd always wants to see a knock-out (right) so I’m hoping to deliver,” mentions James.

Chris Logan, also from the Supreme club, will also make his third appearance at the Battle of the Border. Logan said, “my two losses were at the Battle of the Border, but I now have back to back victories elsewhere. In my first appearance I got fist pumped, I’m not going to lie about it.

My second was a good stand up battle with the decision going his way.” When describing his style Logan said, “I like to fight standing, but I’ll hold you down and punch you in the face if you want me too.” When asked what the crowd could expect from his next appearance Logan was quick to reply, “fireworks – fireworks, I want to put on a show.”
