The Mooretown Flags went 2
and 0 over the weekend with a 8 - 4 win in Dresden and a 4 - 2 win over
league rivals Wallaceburg Lakers at home Saturday.
In the first game on Friday
night in Dresden, Mooretown went up 3 - 2 after the first period
of play scoring the first two goal by Jason Teschke and Spencer
Lightfoot. Dresden's Josh Beatty scored on the powerplay with
Jordan Pennesi answering back with the 3rd goal. Midway in the period
Dresden's Dan Hyatt scored their second.
In the second Ben Holtom of Dresden tied things up at 1:02 into the
period. Mooretown went on and scored two to regain the lead.
Cody Stout and Jordan Pennesi (his second) scored for Mooretown.
In the third Mooretown added three more goals to secure the win with
Jason Teschke, Cody Stout and Jordan Pennesi scoring. Dresden managed a
single before the game was over but the Flags kept them at bay to take
the win.
Seth Anderson took the win in net with a total of 28 saves. Brent
Paxton took the loss with 24 saves.
Mooretown went 1 for 4 on the powerplay, Dresden went 1 for 3.

In the second game at home
on Saturday it was a great way to end their final league season with a 4
- 2 win over the North Division Leaders Wallaceburg Lakers.
The first period scoring
happened late in the period on a powerplay goal by Adam Little to give
Mooretown the 1 - 0 lead heading into the second.
In the second Mooretown went up 2 - 0 after Jason Teschke scored an
unassisted shorthanded goal. Wallaceburg answered back at 7:09 on
a goal by Jordan Belanger. The two sides went back to back and the
period ended with Mooretown in the lead 2 - 1.
Third period saw Wallaceburg tie the game at 3:08 with Zach Loader
scoring. Mooretown answered back with two quick goals the first at
5:39 by Mike Burns then again at 5:59 by Spencer Lightfoot. The
two sides battled it back and forth and the score would remain at 4 - 2
when the final buzzer sounded given the Flags the win.
In this fiery affair Mooretown went 1 for 7 in powerplays, Wallaceburg
went 1 for 9. Wallaceburg took 38 minutes on 11 infraction's,
Mooretown took a total of 34 minutes on 13 infraction's.
Jordan Gladwish got the
start for Mooretown and went 32:14 minutes and making a total of 19
saves and later replaced by Seth Anderson who was credited with
the win making a total of 14 saves after 27:46 minutes in net.
Matt Berland took the loss for Wallaceburg with a total of 26 saves.
Mooretown finished the season in second place in the North Division with
a total of 27 wins, 16 losses and 1 OT loss.
Mooretown will now
meet 3rd place Dresden Jr. Kings in playoffs with their first game
slated for Friday Feb 12th in Dresden. game time 7:30 pm.
