Mooretown Flags lost in Belle River Friday

In Great Lakes Jr C Hockey League action the Mooretown Flags traveled to Belle River and came home with a 4 - 1 loss against the Canadiens.

Belle River took a 2 - 0 lead after the first period with Billy Eansor and Derek Haskell (PP) scoring.  In the second Andrew Sokol scored the lone goal for the Flags at 2:43 with Riley Roberts assisting.  In the third Belle River added two more goals the last into the empty net.  Haskell scored his second of the night and James Shelton scored the final.

Both sides took just six minutes in penalties on three infractions.  Mooretown went zero for two and Belle River went one for two on power play opportunities.

Belle River outshot the Flags 34 - 32. Braden Palocz took the loss with 30 saves, Zakk Olvin earned the win with 31 save.

The Flags are back in action tonight (Saturday January 12th), when they host the Alvinston Flyers. 

The Mooretown Flags organization will be honouring the 25th Anniversary of the 1987-1988 OHA Schmatz Cup All Ontario Jr. C Championship Team on centre ice prior to the 7:30 puck drop at the Moore Sports Recreation Centre.
