qualifier
August 9, 2012
Olympic Games - Hilary Stellingwerff needed a 5th place finish to qualify for the finals in the Women's 1500 metre race, Stellingwerff placed 6th. “I was so boxed in. I was trying to stay patient and not have to go around four people, because that would lose energy,” Stellingwertff was quoted as saying. “I found an opening in the last stretch and I passed three girls, but it wasn’t fast enough.”The top 5 racers in heat 1 & 2 qualified to compete in the final and the next two fastest runners from both heats would qualify. With a time of 4:05.57 Stellingwerff waited on the sidelines for the second heat to run, but unfortunately heat two pace was too quick eliminating her from the final.
