SMAA Football Regular Season Ended on Saturday - playoffs begins next week

Saturday Oct 20 - Norm Perry Park was a busy place on Saturday with all 12 teams playing their final regular season game before beginning play-offs next weekend. The games were played on the north field, as the main field is under construction, being prepared for the field turf that will be laid in the spring.

 

ATOMS

Inferno vs
Shock Wave

In the Atom Division the first place Planet Stitch Inferno overpowered the Lanxess Shock Wave 44-6.
 

Ethan Barnes led the victors with 3 touchdowns and a pair of converts, all in the first half. Cody Johnston accounted for 2 majors in the second half while Tyler Kerby added another.

 

Mitchel Schechinger added two converts. Aron Shanks ran in from 12 yards out for the Shock Wave.

Razar Claws vs Iron Hides
In the battle for second place the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 Iron Hides upended the Rob Simrak Magic Realty Razor Claws 24-6.

 

Lucas Kita led the Hides with many key gains and touchdown runs of 6, 12 and 17 yards. Mattheus Hartman counted another major for the winners.

 

Jackson Grasse ran to the house on a 35 yard dash for the Claws.

These 2 teams will meet in the semis next weekend.

PEEWEE

 

Storm vs Avengers
The first PeeWee game was played in a driving rain. The first place Storm scored the only points of the first half on a 6 yard quarterback keeper by Hunter Hendrie and a convert by Garrett Patterson. The Avengers came roaring back in the second half and were rewarded when Michell Hillsdon rumbled into the end zone from 3 yards out.

 

The Storm defence hung tough the rest of the game and they held on for an 8-6 win.

Force vs Fury
The Force took over second place with a 26-0 beating of the Fury.

The Force scored 3 touchdowns in the first half on end runs of 57, 59 amd 60 yards by Jackson Smiley. Brother Avery, not to be out done, dashed for another major of 58 yards in the second half. Adam Wilkins ploughed into the end zone for 2 successful converts.

BANTAM

 


Toros vs Bears
The first Bantam game featuring the Sylvan Learning Centre Bears and the Mechanical Contractor's Association Toros was a high scoring affair. Matthew Paquette put the Bears up early on a 41 yard run. The Toros replied with 2 majors by Jamie Campbell, first on a 7 yard run and the second on a 92 yard punt return. Dale Leivo converted both touchdowns for the Toros. The Bears scored their second major of the half on a 1 yard run up the middle by Bennett Vani. The Toros led 16-12 at the half. They opened up their lead in the second half. Again Campbell scored on runs of 51 and 63 yards and Leivo's converts made the score 32-12.. The Bears did not give up however and clawed their way back on a 72 yard kickoff return by Matthew Paquette and a convert by Dominic Cocozzoli to make the outcome only a 2 possession game. The teams traded touchdowns the rest of the way with Jonard Richardson catching a 17 yard pass from Campbell for the Toros and Nicholas Iacobelli running in from 55 yards out for the Bears. The Toros prevailed 40-26.

Mammoths vs Tiger Sharks
The day's finale had the Mammoet Crane Incorporated Mammoths playing the Sarnia Police Association Tiger Sharks. The Sharks scored all their points in the first half on a pair of touchdowns each by Austin Clement and Keyshaun Jordan. Nick Snow scored on a 1 yard quarterback sneak for the Mammoths after an inspiring 65 yard run by Patrick Miller. Miller himself counted the second Mammoth major on a 44 yard run. The Tiger Sharks won 28-12.
