Make it
6 in a row in this heated contest as the Mooretown Flags
defeated the Wheatley Sharks by a score of 3 - 2 in
Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey action. The two teams
are now 1 - 1 as the Sharks took the first win in
their house on Sept 19.
Both sides went scoreless after the first period of
play and in the second the Sharks went up 2 - 1.
Wheatley scored first on a goal by Jordan Carnevale
at 1:37 into the period. Both sides then went
on and shared powerplay goals with Jeff Schroeter
assisted by Josh Teschke scoring for the Flags and
Austin Fontaine scoring for Wheatley to once again
take the lead.

In
the third Mooretown's powerplay line continue to
work for the Flags as they went on and score 2 goals
in the third. Schroeter scored the tying goal
assisted by Teschke at 4:13 and following at 7:41
Josh Teschke scored his first of the night and game
winner with Schroeter and Michael Gray earning the
assist.

As
tempers flared in the final stanza, several
penalties were handed to both sides with Wheatley
suffering the worst playing shorthanded after Tyler
Charamba earned a double minor for butt ending and
then ejected from the game after spitting and for
physical abuse of an official giving the Flags the
man advantage as the final whistle blew.
Mooretown went 3 for 6 on powerplay opportunities
and fought off Wheatley's 13 out of 14
powerplay opportunities.
Mooretown led the way
in total in penalty minutes with a total of 44.
Wheatley took a total of 30 minutes.

Mooretown goaltender Seth Hellinga earned the win
with 46 saves. Marc Tremblay took the loss for
the Sharks with a total of 35 saves. Wheatley
outshot the Flags 48 - 38.
Hellinga earned 1st star of the night with Jeff
Schroeter and Josh Teschke earning 2nd and 3rd
stars. Schroeter and Teschke are also league scoring leaders. Schroeter #1 with 15 pts and Teschke #2 with 14.
The
Flags are now in first place in the North Division
after 8 games played with 6 wins and 2 losses for a
total of 12 points.
The
Flags are on the road for their first season game
against Essex on Tuesday Oct 11. This will be
another game to watch as Essex holds the top spot in
the South Division with a total of 13 points after 8
games.

is 7:00 pm.
Flags
next home game is on Oct 15 when they host the
Dresden Kings at the Moore Sports Complex.
