Sting Make Roster
Moves
Three Players From
Last Year’s Team Not In Opening
Night Lineup
Sarnia, On –
General Manager Dave MacQueen
announced this afternoon that the
club has made roster moves as it
continues to get set for the
2010-2011 Season Opener on Friday.
The Sting have
re-assigned forward Braden
Kavaratzis and it has also been
announced that goaltender Shayne
Campbell and Ben O’Quinn will not be
with the team as both are awaiting a
possible trade.
MacQueen explained
the transactions.
“With Shayne it was a
very difficult decision to make as
he has done everything we had asked
of him over the past two seasons.
There were ups and downs during his
tenure with the organization but one
thing that remained a constant was
his positive attitude as he has been
a pleasure to work with. I am
confident we can find Shayne another
team to play for in the near
future.”
MacQueen would
further explain the decisions
regarding Kavaratzis and O’Quinn.
“With Braden it was a
numbers game as we have added a lot
of depth at the forward positions.
Braden is still a member of our
organization and there is a good
chance we may see him up with us
again at some point this season.”
“In the case of Ben
O’Quinn we have sent Ben home to
await a possible trade. The reason
for this move is that Ben had
violated team rules and we want to
send a clear message to the team and
to our fans that such behaviour will
not be tolerated.”
The roster moves
trims the Sting roster down to 23
players as the team gets set to open
the 2010-2011 season Friday night
when the defending Memorial Cup
Champion Windsor Spitfires come to
the RBC Centre.
Game time is 7:00.
Tickets remain and can be purchased
