The Vikings
celebrated a cold, wet Homecoming with
a 31-6 victory over a hard-fighting St.
Christopher's Cyclones squad.
The Vikings
scored on the opening kickoff when Eliot
Handy broke free for a 75 yard return. Paul
Kaija was good with the extra point.
With 3:13 left
in the opening quarter, Curtis Robichaud
capped a long Vikings drive with a 5 yard
tear into the endzone. Kaijia's extra point
made the score 14-0, Vikings.
With 6 minutes
left in the half, Carter Winberg ran the
quarterback keeper in for a touchdown of his
own, and Kaija added the extra point.
Winberg added
another major as the half came to a close.
Kaija's extra point made it Vikings 28,
Cyclones 0, at the half.
The only 3rd
quarter points came on a Kaija field goal
for the Vikings.
Late in the 4th
quarter, the Cyclones got on the board with
a short run into the endzone. The 2 point
conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Andrew Lane was a standout for the Jr.
Vikings, making key plays on both sides of
the ball.
The next game
for the Junior Vikings is Friday, October
16th, at St. Pat's. Kickoff is 3:30.
