Sarnia Fury U10

June 15 - Sarnia Red vs. Sarnia White 1:0

Sarnia Fury White was facing their club rivals, Sarnia Fury Red in beautiful playing weather conditions on Wednesday night. Opening minutes of the game showed that both teams were determined to play a nice game and entertain the Sarnia crowd on the sidelines. Both goalies, Nathan Oliphant for Sarnia White, and Josh Doupe for Sarnia Red, were up to task keeping their nets intact until the 20th minute of the game when the White team got in trouble on a cleared ball from the penalty box. The ball got in front of Ayden Letang on edge of the box. Ayden reacted excellent by taking a very nice kick, placing it a few inches under the crossbar. The White team stepped up and were determined not to allow any more goals. Brendan Bouterse, White captain of the game, with support from Ian Bailey and Brayden Boere did not give much room in the back. On the few chances that the Red team had, Nathan was confident and that confidence spilled over to White team.

Evan Trigatti and Stefan Pisic had a quick exchange of the ball in midfield with Stefan making a long pass to wide open Collin Zimmer for a breakaway. Red goalie was paying attention and with a good timed run was able to prevent the scoring opportunity for the White team. Collin was pressuring Red defence and forcing them to play quick, which helped White midfielders to get possession of the ball. Camden MacLean had a few nice shots from a distance that were just off the target.

Second half was dominated by the White team. White team took control over the midfield and many chances were created as a result. Red goalie was properly positioned in all of the situations. The crowd was entertained by good passing and nice defensive playing with many headers. Seth Kember was working hard in midfield and on one of his runs he was able to find Mark Barsoum in good position to score. Unfortunately, Mark’s shot missed the target on Red team’s relief. Logan Johnston and Brendan Bouterse had chances on their own but Red defence was able to clear the ball and keep the White team scoreless. White team pressured until the final whistle and left the field with heads up.

Final score 1:0 for Red team against strong White team with impressive performance.
