Former Sarnia
Legionnaires defenceman Curtis Crombeen scored his
first Ontario Hockey League goal Saturday.
The 16-year-old blinked
the red light for the Owen Sound Attack as they
thumped the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-3.
Crombeen, a former St.
Christopher Secondary School student, played with
the Lambton minor midgets for much of last winter,
scoring 11 goals and 43 assists.
He also played
four regular season and 17 playoff games with the
Legionnaires, picking up one goal and five assists.
His Jr. 'B' goal came in
a playoff contest against the St. Thomas Stars in
which he moved in from the point and rifled home a
shot from close range.
The 5'11, 160 pounder's
defensive play, which helped the Legionnaires win
the Weir Cup as Western Ontario champions, caught
the eye of OHL scouts and led to him being drafted
by Owen Sound.
His defensive partner
with the minor midgets was Tanner Ferguson, who is a
current Legionnaire with two assists to his credit.
Like Curtis, Tanner has been drafted by the Attack.
Curtis's uncle, Mike
Crombeen, and his cousin, B.J. Crombeen, have both
played in the NHL.
